Course Outline

First Session:

The first session introduces supply chain management, exploring the various setups and types encountered in daily life. It also dives into push-pull systems with real-world examples.

We will discuss different supply chain processes and the best practices that supply chain managers follow. Additionally, we will provide an overview of the metrics toolbox that supply chain managers use daily to measure supply chain performance.

The first session includes numerous examples from different supply chains to highlight various setups, enabling trainees to clearly identify the structure of any given supply chain.

Second Session:

Segmentation lies at the heart of any supply chain. Before designing a supply chain, it is essential to segment suppliers, customers, and products based on specific criteria. These criteria help align strategy for each segment and define the service levels for SKUs and customers. We will learn how to conduct ABC analysis and determine the subsequent steps to achieve maximum profitability and service levels.

The session also covers forecasting and demand planning using sales and operations planning techniques, along with guidelines for aligning sales and operations teams.

Third Session:

Inventory is the heart of supply chains, serving as the ultimate buffer for customer satisfaction and demand availability. However, holding excess inventory poses problems, such as spoilage, obsolescence, and damage. Furthermore, excessive spending on inventory restricts resources available for other activities and investments. Inventory analysis involves determining the right quantity of the right product, in the right location, and in the right form. In this session, we will practice inventory replenishment policies using the EOQ model and its extensions. We will also determine order quantities under demand uncertainty based on our targeted service levels.
