Training Competencies

  • Delivery of a pre-prepared training session on a work-related topic of the participant’s choice.

N.B. The duration of each participant's presentation will vary depending on the total course length and the number of attendees. A group size of eight is considered ideal.

  • Comprehensive individual and group feedback

Preparing a Training Session

  • Key questions for the trainer to consider in advance:
    • Why am I the right person to deliver this?
    • Logistics: What, where, when, how – and for how long?
    • Understanding how the answers to these questions influence the structure of the training session
  • Structuring the content:
    • Research – gaining deep knowledge of the subject
    • Organizing the content logically
    • Creating and utilizing complementary visual aids

Preparing the Trainer

  • The trainer’s three core communication tools:
    • Verbal – selecting appropriate words and avoiding slang or jargon
    • Vocal – modulating voice tone while avoiding distracting verbal habits and pauses
    • Visual – maintaining a professional appearance: attire, body language, and overall presence
  • Rehearsing the session – and obtaining candid feedback from a reliable source
  • Managing anxiety and nervousness

Preparing the Environment

  • Room configurations – and how they convey implicit messages to attendees
  • Leveraging the physical space to enhance the training experience
  • Ensuring the room is tidy after the session concludes

Evaluation

  • The importance of evaluation
  • Methods for collecting and applying participant feedback

Training Competencies – Revisited

  • Delivery of another training session (following adequate preparation time).

N.B. This may involve the same presentation from Module 1, refined based on detailed feedback.
