Course Outline

Introduction

Data management involves the storage and processing of information. Within an enterprise context, data management becomes significantly more complex. The volume of data and the speed at which it needs to be secured, shared, analyzed, and processed are critical factors.

This course is designed for entry-level engineers. It explores the various technologies, tools, architectures, and design methodologies used to handle large volumes of data. We examine traditional data storage methods, such as relational databases, as well as newer, less structured approaches.

The curriculum compares traditional file systems with distributed file systems, and traditional server architecture with clustered server architecture, all within the context of managing and processing big data across distributed systems.

Attendees will perform hands-on exercises and assessments, followed by instructor coaching and group discussions.

Key topics include:

Hadoop
