Thriving with Innovation

Value creation is the core of any organization’s mission. In this module, we learn about both internal and external value that companies must create to succeed. Day Four
Value Creation and Measurement
This module builds on the previous day’s content by examining internal value creation and measuring the value generated. While tangible efforts are easy to measure, this module also highlights intangible value creation. Companies must account for intangible value during digital business transformations. Business cases are introduced as they form the basis for any strategy, plan, or policy an organization may undertake.

The final element of the THRIVE framework covers the principle of Enterprise. Enterprise refers to the organization as a whole and is critical in digital business transformation, which cannot be achieved if treated as an isolated strategy. Transformation must permeate all levels of the organization; thus, this module teaches about the transformation leaders, mindsets, capabilities, and culture required. We also distinguish between transformation leaders/management and technology leaders/management.

Enterprise Management
In this module, we review the different areas of management required when a company decides to transform. Portfolio, programme, and project management are vital to the transformation process. The module also highlights Organisational Change Management, explaining why an OCM committee can play a significant role in business transformation. We learn that while firm procedures and strategies are important, companies must also leave room for agility and change.

Day Five
- Transformation Roadmap
Day Five is the concluding day of the course. Participants are guided step-by-step through the 10 phases of the transformation roadmap that all companies undergo during their digital business transformation. A roadmap helps everyone in the organization understand each step of the journey. Meanwhile, the THRIVE framework provides the principles needed to build a roadmap tailored to the company’s environment.
Phase 1 begins by explaining the roadmap, followed by subsequent steps: aligning leadership, analyzing the market, establishing responses, and activating transformation readiness. The remaining five phases are detailed in the next module.

Transformation Roadmap Continued...
A roadmap must be holistic, ensuring all THRIVE principles are applied. It helps ensure that THRIVE principles and lessons are implemented in the correct sequence. This module outlines the remaining phases of the transformation roadmap: innovating strategically, preparing, prioritizing, and presenting business cases, defining portfolios, and executing and managing the transformation. We will also conduct a digital business case exercise to bring all lessons into practical use.

Course Conclusion
This module wraps up all the lessons learned in the course. We compare two firms—one that follows the THRIVE principles and one that does not—to understand why the framework is important, universal, and adaptable to fit a company’s objectives.
